A Night in Tunisia

This arrangement was commissioned for the Dallas Tx brass quintet, “Imperial Brass.” A nice way to spice up your brass quintet’s concert!

Commissioned for Dallas’ “Imperial Brass,” this arrangement in a latin setting features the trombone player, and even mixes in a little jazz improvisation!

Beignet for Brass

This original work was commissioned by Adjunct Instructor of Trombone at OCU and Principal Trombonist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, John Allen. Written for two brass quintets, this fun piece leads you down the cobblestone streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans!

Say it Everyday

Commissioned for the Texas Region II Jazz Band in 2010, this original composition has a special place in my heart. Inspired my by wife’s uncle David Gil, its message is simple but powerful : tell the ones you love how much they mean to you…everyday. 5/5/5/4, this gentle jazz samba builds to an exciting break down and switches from Brazil to Cuba, with a mambo/montuno chorus at its end.

That’s All

I wrote this arrangement when I was a band director, and it quickly became one of my students’ favorites! This fast jazz samba is scored for 5/5/4/4, with flugelhorn doubles and extra optional percussion. A perfect festival/competition piece or just a great finale for any concert!

Tico Tico

This arrangement was commissioned for the Jazz Ambassadors. Set in a traditional “samba marcha” style, this tune works well in a medium tempo and an up-tempo ( for the more adventurous! ). 5/5/4/4, solos for tenor and piano, and plenty of high notes for your lead trumpet!

I’ll Be Seeing You

Probably one of the most special songs in the world to me. Written for my grandmother, Francis Hampton Pierce. This mellow swinger is scored for Trumpet, Tenor and Bone plus full rhythm.
